Should I take the ACT with writing?

Hey everyone! My school is encouraging students to take the ACT with writing, but I'm not sure if it's necessary. Is the writing section important for college admissions, or is it optional? Need some advice here, thanks!

Taking the ACT with writing isn't as universally required as it used to be, but whether you should take it largely depends on the colleges you're planning to apply to. Most colleges and universities no longer require the writing portion, but there are still a handful of schools that recommend it or, in some cases, require it.

To decide whether or not you should take the writing portion, research the admission requirements of the colleges on your list. If any of them recommend or require the ACT with writing, it's a good idea to take it. You don't want to give colleges any reason to question your seriousness about your application. If none of the schools you're considering require the writing portion, you can skip it.

However, there can be benefits to taking the ACT with writing. If you're a strong writer, including your writing score could help showcase your essay skills to colleges. It might also provide you with extra practice for college essay writing. Additionally, if you're unsure about all the colleges you might apply to, taking the ACT with writing ensures you'll fulfill the writing requirement for any school on your potential list.

In summary, while the writing section might not be necessary for many colleges, it's a good idea to check the requirements of the schools you're targeting and consider your own writing skills and application strategy before deciding whether or not to take the ACT with writing.
