What percentage do you need for a 5 on AP Biology?

Hi there! I'm trying my best to aim for a 5 on my AP Biology exam, but I'm not exactly sure what percentage of correct answers I'll need to achieve this. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of the percentage required to score a 5?

Hello! Scoring a 5 on the AP Biology exam is a great goal. Keep in mind that the precise percentage needed for a 5 may vary from year to year based on the difficulty of the exam and the performance of all test-takers. However, as a rough estimate, scoring around 70%-75% of the total points available on the exam should put you in a good position to earn a 5.

The AP Biology exam is divided into two main sections: Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Free-Response Questions (FRQs). For the MCQ section, you'll have 90 minutes to complete 60 questions worth 50% of the overall score. In the FRQ section, you'll have another 90 minutes to answer 6 questions worth the remaining 50% of your score.

To maximize your chances of getting a 5, focus on understanding key concepts in depth, practicing your critical thinking skills, and becoming comfortable with applying essential biological principles across various contexts. Good luck with your preparation and exam!
