Should I send my ACT scores?

Hey everyone! I'm not sure if it's a good idea to send my ACT scores to colleges. Will it have a positive impact on my admissions chances? Or is it better not to send them at all if my scores aren't that high?

It really depends on the colleges you're planning to apply to and how your ACT scores compare to the average scores of accepted students at those institutions. Since some colleges have maintained their test-optional policies for the 2024-2025 application cycle, you should first check the specific requirements of each school on your list.

If a college is test-optional, you should only submit your ACT scores if you believe they are strong relative to the school's typical applicant pool. You can find this information by looking up the middle 50% ACT scores of previously admitted students. If your scores fall within or above this range, it might be advantageous to send them. If your scores are below the middle 50%, it might be better not to send them and instead focus on strengthening other areas of your application, such as your essays and extracurricular activties.

For schools that still require test scores, you will need to submit your ACT scores. In this case, focus on making the best of what you have and putting forward a strong application overall.

Remember that test scores are just one part of your application, and they could play a smaller role in the holistic admission process depending on the school. Ultimately, whether or not to send your ACT scores will be a decision you must make based on your performance and the specific requirements of each college on your list.
