Hi guys, I was wondering how much the SAT application fee is, and if anyone knows if they offer fee waivers for low-income students. If so, how do you apply for a fee waiver?
The SAT registration fee is currently $60, but will go up to $68 on August 24, 2024. If you're a low-income student, you may be eligible for an SAT fee waiver that covers the cost of the test. Fee waivers are granted to high school students who qualify, and you can receive up to two fee waivers for the SAT during your high school years.
To obtain a fee waiver, you'll need to speak with your high school counselor. They will have access to the fee waiver codes and can determine if you meet the eligibility requirements. Some of the general eligibility criteria include participating in the National School Lunch Program, being enrolled in a program for economically disadvantaged students (such as Upward Bound), or if your family has an income level that meets the USDA Food and Nutrition Service guidelines.
If you receive a fee waiver, it not only covers the cost of the SAT registration, but also provides additional benefits like free score reports to send to colleges and waived application fees at select colleges.
