San Jose State GPA requirements?

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about applying to San Jose State University next year and I'm wondering what the typical GPA requirements are for incoming freshmen. Are they strict on this? Thanks in advance!

Hello! San Jose State University (SJSU) is part of the California State University (CSU) system, so admission is primarily based on a combination of your GPA and class rank.

As for GPA requirements, while there isn't a strict cutoff, the reported average GPA for incoming freshmen at SJSU is about a 3.5 out of 4.0. The more competitive your GPA, the better your chances are of admission. However, keep in mind that those are just the average ranges, and there are always students admitted with GPAs both above and below those numbers.

Additionally, it's important to consider other factors that might impact your admission, such as meeting the minimum required courses known as the A-G requirements. These requirements are a series of high school courses that students must complete with a C- or better to be eligible for CSU admission. In addition, individual majors at SJSU may have higher GPA requirements because of their competitiveness or limited spaces available.

Hope this helps you figure things out!
