Hey, everyone! I just started preparing for the SAT and I've heard that some of the sections have changed. Can someone explain the current SAT rules to me, like how many sections there are and what their respective time limits are? Would really appreciate it!
Hello! Absolutely, I can help explain the current SAT rules to you. As of spring 2024, the SAT has transitioned to a fully digital format. The structure of the digital SAT is as follows:
1. Reading and Writing: This combined section is divided into two 32-minute modules, in which you'll complete a total of 54 questions. You will have approximately 71 seconds per question.
2. Math: The Math section is also divided into two 35-minute modules, with a total of 44 questions. You'll have 96 seconds per question, which is a little over a minute and a half.
The total duration of the digital SAT is 134 minutes, during which you'll answer 98 questions. Additionally, there is no longer a no-calculator section, so you can use your calculator on both math modules.
To familiarize yourself with the test format, consider using resources like The College Board's Bluebook™ app, which provides a digital PSAT/NMSQT preview and a full-length practice test.
Best of luck with your SAT preparation!
