Cost of Taking the SAT and ACT

Hey everyone! I'm planning on taking the SAT and ACT, but I'm not sure how much they cost. Does anyone know the current registration fees and cost of sending scores to colleges for both tests?

Hello! The cost of taking the SAT and ACT varies depending on the specific test and additional services you might need. Here's a breakdown of the fees:

For the SAT:

- Regular registration fee: $55

- Late registration fee: $30 (in addition to the regular fee)

- Waitlist fee: $53 (only charged if you're allowed to take the test)

- Register by phone fee: $15

Sending SAT scores:

- You can send four score reports for free if you choose the recipients within nine days of taking the test.

- For additional score reports or if you choose recipients after the deadline, it will be $12 per report.

For the ACT (no writing):

- Regular registration fee: $60

- Late registration fee: $35 (in addition to the regular fee)

- Standby testing fee: $57 (only charged if you're allowed to take the test)

- Test information release (TIR): $25 (to receive a copy of your test questions, your answers, and the answer key)

For the ACT with writing:

- Regular registration fee: $85

- Late registration fee: $35 (in addition to the regular fee)

- Standby testing fee: $57 (only charged if you're allowed to take the test)

Sending ACT scores:

- You can send four score reports for free if you choose the recipients when you register for the test.

- For additional score reports or if you choose recipients after registering, it will be $15 per report.

Keep in mind that fee waivers are available for both tests if you meet the eligibility criteria, which can significantly reduce or eliminate the costs associated with taking these exams.

I hope this helps, and good luck with your testing!
