Colleges with mandatory interviews?

Hey fellow juniors! So I'm starting my college list and I want to know which colleges require interviews as part of the application process. I want to make sure I'm prepared for that part. Thanks for your help!

Hello! Not many colleges actually require interviews as a mandatory part of the application process. However, some schools highly recommend or strongly encourage interviews. For example, Harvard, MIT and Georgetown suggest interviews, and in some cases, Princeton and UPenn offer alumni interviews to applicants after they submit their applications. By attending these optional interviews, you can demonstrate your genuine interest in the school, allowing the admissions officers to get to know you better.

Keep in mind that the availability of interviews may vary based on whether you apply Early Decision, Early Action, or Regular Decision, as well as your geographic location. When considering schools, it's crucial to research each college's admissions process and requirements. If a college offers an interview (even if not mandatory), taking advantage of that opportunity can be advantageous in distinguishing yourself among other applicants.

As you create your college list, make a note of each institution's interview policies and prepare accordingly. Good luck with your college applications!
