UC Berkeley: Average ACT Score?

Hey there! I'm starting to feel the stress of college applications and UC Berkeley is one of my top choices. I was wondering if anyone knows the average ACT score for admitted students? I'm trying to see how competitive my application would be. Thanks in advance!

UC Berkeley and other UC schools are test-blind for the 2024-2025 application cycle, which means they will not consider SAT or ACT scores at all. I can provide you with some data from previous years when test scores were considered, but please note that this information may not be directly relevant to your current application, as the school is no longer considering these scores.

In the past, the middle 50% ACT score range for admitted students at UC Berkeley was roughly 30-35. So, 25% of admitted students scored below a 30, 25% scored above a 35, and 50% fell within this range. While these numbers can give a general sense of previous applicant pools' competitiveness, they are not indicative of current admission standards, as, again test scores are not being considered.

Instead, focus on other aspects of your application, such as maintaining a strong GPA in rigorous courses, showcasing your extracurricular involvement, and crafting compelling personal essays. For guidance on how to strengthen the aspects of your application that are still considered by UC Berkeley admissions officers, check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which breaks down how to tackle the UC application essays: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-university-of-california-essays
