Hunter College SAT Requirements

Hi folks! I'm interested in applying to Hunter College and was wondering what their SAT requirements are? Is there a minimum score or a certain range they're looking for?

Hunter College is a test-optional school, which means they do not require you to submit your SAT scores for the 2024-2025 application cycle. However, if you choose to submit your scores, they can be used in the admissions evaluation process to supplement your academic profile.

Although there is no minimum SAT score requirement, you can gauge whether your scores are competitive by looking at the middle 50% range of accepted students. For Hunter College, the middle 50% SAT score range for the previous years was approximately 1160 to 1350.

If your scores fall within this range, that indicates you are academically competitive with the majority of accepted students. However, if your scores are below this range, that doesn't automatically mean you'll be rejected, as Hunter College reviews applications holistically, by taking into account your high school grades, coursework rigor, extracurricular involvement, and so on.

Ultimately, whether or not you submit your SAT scores depends on your personal academic strengths and how well they align with Hunter College's general admissions requirements. If you feel that your SAT scores are not representative of your academic ability or they may negatively impact your application, you may choose to not submit them and instead focus on showcasing your strengths in other areas of your application.

For more detailed guidance on how to navigate test-optional policies, and whether you personally should submit a test score or not, I'd check out this blog post from CollegeVine: https://blog.collegevine.com/does-test-optional-mean-test-optional/. Good luck!
