SAT Score 1350—How good is it?

Hello everyone! I received a 1350 on my SAT exam, and I'm not sure if it's a good enough score for competitive colleges. Should I aim for a higher score, or is this sufficient for most schools? I'd appreciate any advice or insights! Thanks!

Hello! Congratulations on your SAT score! A 1350 is a good score and places you in the 94th percentile nationally. However, whether it is sufficient depends on the schools you plan to apply to. If you're aiming for highly competitive colleges (like Ivy League schools or other top-tier institutions), a higher SAT score would certainly be beneficial, as their middle 50% SAT scores tend to range from 1450 to 1550 or higher.

For most other colleges and universities, a 1350 score should be more than adequate. You can check the individual school's average SAT scores for admitted students to determine if you are in a competitive range. Keep in mind that colleges consider other factors in admission, such as your grades, rigor of coursework, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation.

Before deciding whether to retake the SAT, consider your available time and resources, as well as the potential benefits of improving your score. If you feel confident that you could score higher and have the time to prepare, it may be worth giving it another shot. However, if you believe your strengths lie elsewhere, focusing on other aspects of your application might be a better use of your time.

Remember that for many colleges, especially those that are test-optional, having a strong overall application is more important than just a high test score. Your essays, extracurricular activities, and demonstrated interest could make a difference in your admission chances. Good luck with your college applications!
