1350 SAT Score - good enough?

I just got a 1350 on my SAT, and I'm wondering if it's a good scale for college admissions. Would this score give me a decent shot at some competitive schools, or should I aim to retake it and score higher?

A 1350 SAT score is a solid score that places you in approximately the 89th percentile of test-takers. While this is a good score, whether it is competitive for certain colleges depends on the schools you're targeting. If you're aiming for highly selective colleges (like Ivy League schools or top-tier universities), most of these schools have average SAT scores in the mid to high 1400s, with some even reaching into the 1500s. In that case, it might be beneficial for you to retake the SAT and try to score higher to increase your chances of admission.

However, a 1350 SAT score is competitive for many schools, including some well-regarded state universities and private colleges. Additionally, remember that standardized test scores are just one part of your application. Colleges also consider your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, and essays. A strong overall application could compensate for a slightly lower test score at some schools.

If you decide to retake the SAT, make sure to create a study plan, identify areas where you need improvement, and dedicate time to focused test prep. If you can raise your score and demonstrate growth, that can be an impressive accomplishment in the eyes of admissions officers.

Before retaking the test, research the middle 50% SAT range for the schools you're interested in, and target a score that falls within or above that range to increase your chances of admission. Good luck!
