SAT Test Day Schedule

Hi! I'm getting ready to take the SAT later this year, and I want to know how the day is structured. What time does the test usually start, and are there breaks in between sections?

Hi! Good question. The SAT is now a fully digital exam, and the structure is slightly different from the previous paper-based version. Here's the general test-day schedule for the digital SAT:

1. Arrival: You should plan to arrive at the testing center at least 30 minutes before the test is scheduled to begin. This will give you time to check in, find your assigned room, and settle in before the test starts.

2. Test start time: The starting time for the SAT might vary slightly depending on the testing center, but generally, it begins around 8:00 am. Make sure you confirm the start time at your designated testing center.

3. Test sections: The digital SAT consists of 4 modules: 2 for Reading and Writing and 2 for Math. The Reading and Writing modules are 32 minutes each, and the Math modules are 35 minutes each. In total, the test will take approximately 134 minutes (a little over 2 hours) to complete.

4. Breaks: You'll have a break in between the Reading and Writing modules and the Math modules. The break generally lasts around 10 minutes, giving you a chance to stretch and use the restroom. No additional breaks are scheduled between the other sections.

5. Finishing the test: Once you complete the final Math module, the test will be over. The proctor will collect any testing materials and give instructions about dismissing the testing group.

Remember that the check-in process and breaks may cause the total time spent at the testing center to be longer than the 134 minutes of testing. Make sure to bring snacks and water if necessary, and do your best to stay relaxed and focused throughout the day. Good luck!
