What is a good SAT reading score?

Hi! I'm slightly stressed out trying to figure out if my SAT reading score is competitive for college applications. Can someone please tell me what's considered a good score for the reading section of the SAT? Appreciate any help!

I can understand that the college application process can be overwhelming at times. When it comes to determining what a "good" SAT Reading score is, it largely depends on the schools you're targeting. In general, a score of 30 or above out of 40 on the SAT Reading section can be considered a solid score. However, the competitiveness of your score will vary depending on the selectivity of the colleges you're interested in.

For less competitive schools, a score of 25-30 may be sufficient, while for more selective schools, you'll likely want to aim for a higher score, such as 35-40. Keep in mind that the Reading section is just one component of your overall SAT score, which also includes the Writing and Math sections.

To get a better understanding of how competitive your SAT Reading score is, research the middle 50% score range (25th to 75th percentile range) for the schools you're considering. This information can typically be found on college websites, under "Admitted Student Profile" or "Class Profile" sections. By comparing your score to the middle 50% range of your desired schools, you can gauge how competitive your score is in relation to the admitted students' scores.

Remember that most colleges use a holistic review process, and your SAT score is just one factor in your application. It's important to also focus on maintaining solid grades, participating in meaningful extracurricular activities, and writing strong essays.
