What Are the Application Requirements for Brown University?

I've decided to apply to Brown University! I want to make sure I submit everything required, but there's so much information out there - it's overwhelming. Can someone provide a checklist of all the application requirements? Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on deciding to apply to Brown University! Here's a checklist of application requirements for Brown:

1. Common Application or Coalition Application: You can choose to complete either of these online applications, which will ask for general information about you and your educational background.

2. Brown University Supplement: In addition to the main application, you'll need to complete Brown's writing supplement, which contains specific essay prompts to help the admissions office get to know you better.

3. Application Fee or Fee Waiver: There's an $75 application fee, which can be paid online. If the fee poses a financial burden, you can request a fee waiver through the Common Application or Coalition Application.

4. High School Transcript: Your guidance counselor or school official will need to submit your official high school transcript, including your courses and grades through the end of junior year.

5. School Report: The School Report is submitted by your guidance counselor or school official and provides an overview of your academic achievements and context of your high school.

6. Counselor Recommendation: This recommendation is usually written by your guidance counselor, who can provide insight into your academic and personal development during high school.

7. Teacher Evaluations: Brown requires 2 letters of recommendation from academic teachers who have taught you in core academic subjects (English, math, science, social studies/history, or a foreign language).

8. Standardized Test Scores: Brown is test-mandatory again for the 2024-2025 application cycle, you can submit either SAT or ACT scores

9. Mid-Year Report: Most high schools will automatically send your mid-year report, which must include your first-semester grades from senior year. It should be submitted by your counselor after first-semester grades become available.

10. Portfolio and/or Audition Materials (optional): If you have a talent in visual art, music, dance, or theater, submission of a portfolio or audition is optional but may enhance your application.

11. Financial Aid Documents: If you're applying for financial aid, you'll need to submit the CSS Profile and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by their respective deadlines.

As you work on your application, it's essential to stay organized and meet all the deadlines. For regular decision applicants, the deadline is January 5th, while early decision applicants have a deadline of November 1st. Good luck with your application!
