How long does an SAT test last?

I'll be taking the SAT soon, and I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the test. Can anyone tell me how long the test usually lasts (including breaks)?

The SAT duration is typically around 3 hours and 30 minutes when breaks are included. To give you a better understanding, let me break down the test structure and timing:

The digital SAT consists of:

- Reading and Writing: two 32-minute modules to complete 54 questions. You have about 71 seconds per question.

- Math: two 35-minute modules to complete 44 questions. You have 96 seconds per question, or a little over a minute and a half.

The total duration of the digital SAT is 134 minutes or 2 hours and 14 minutes, to complete 98 questions.

Apart from the test sections, there are breaks included in the test schedule:

- A 10-minute break after the first Reading and Writing module.

- A 5-minute break after the first Math module.

That adds an additional 15 minutes to the overall test duration. So, the SAT generally takes around 3 hours and 30 minutes when you include the breaks along with the test sections. Make sure to use the breaks efficiently to relax, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the next sections. Good luck with your SAT preparation!
