Hey guys, I saw my friend's SAT score was a 52. I don't know what she's talking about with this score. Can anyone explain? Is it an SAT essay score or something else?
Hello! Your friend's score of 52 is definitely not a standard SAT score, as SAT scores range from 400 to 1600. However, it could possibly be an old SAT Essay score. Prior to its discontinuation in 2021, the SAT Essay section was scored on a scale of 6 to 24, with 2 to 8 points awarded for each of three dimensions: reading, analysis, and writing. A score of 52 doesn't fit this scale either, but it might be that your friend combined the scores in some way.
If your friend recently took the SAT, then it's important to note that the SAT Essay doesn't exist anymore and was discontinued in 2021. In this case, the 52 score might just be a misunderstanding or a typo. I recommend asking your friend for further clarification on what exactly that score pertains to. I'm sorry I can't be of more help!
