What's considered a good PSAT score for a sophomore?

Hey everyone! I'm a sophomore and I took the PSAT this year. I'm not entirely sure what's considered a good score for my grade. Can you guys give me some insights on what I should be aiming for in terms of PSAT scores?

As a sophomore, your PSAT score can serve as a useful benchmark to gauge your readiness for the actual SAT. Typically, for sophomores, a PSAT score in the range of 950-1050 would be considered average, while a score above 1200 can be considered good. However, there isn't a strict threshold for what is considered a "good" score, since your primary goal should be to track your progress and identify areas for improvement.

It's important to remember that the PSAT is intended to help you understand your strengths and weaknesses, so don't stress too much about the score itself. Rather, focus on learning from the results so that you can make the most of your SAT preparation.

Of course, the National Merit Scholarship Program is based on your junior year PSAT scores, so a high score in junior year could potentially qualify you for a range of scholarships. But there are also plenty of other sources of aid out there, if you don't score high enough to be named a National Merit Semifinalist.

Moving forward, continue to take practice tests and work on the areas you struggle with, in order to increase your test-taking skills and, subsequently, your SAT scores. Also consider looking into resources like Khan Academy, which offers personalized practice plans based on your PSAT results, so you can improve your performance in future standardized tests. And finally, pay attention in class and make sure to ask clarifying questions about any general concepts you're struggling with - at this stage of the game, you're likely still in the process of learning some of the material on the PSAT.

Good luck!
