Hey, I just took the ACT and I'm wondering what the highest possible score is for the writing portion of the test. Anyone know the answer to this?
The highest possible score for the ACT Writing section, also known as the essay, is 12. The Writing section is scored separately from the other sections of the ACT, with two graders scoring your essay on a scale of 1-6. The scores from the two graders are then added together to give you a final Writing score ranging from 2-12.
Keep in mind that some colleges may not require or consider the Writing score, so it's always a good idea to check the specific requirements of the schools you're applying to. Still, though, a high score certainly never hurt anyone! Fingers crossed you have an excellent ACT Writing score coming your way soon!
