University of Denver Admission Requirements

Hey everyone! I'm currently a junior in high school and am starting to look into colleges. I have been considering applying to the University of Denver. Can anyone fill me in on the general admission requirements for this university?

1. Common Application or Pioneer Application: You can choose to submit either the Common Application or DU's own Pioneer Application. Both applications will request information on your academic background, extracurricular activities, and personal accomplishments, as well as require an essay.

2. High School Transcript: DU will look at your high school transcript to understand your coursework rigor and your performance in those classes. They don't have a specific minimum GPA requirement, but it's important to have strong grades in challenging classes relevant to your intended major if possible.

3. SAT or ACT scores (optional): DU is test-optional, which means submitting your SAT or ACT scores is not mandatory. If you believe that your test scores will positively contribute to your application, you can submit them. If not, you can apply without them, and it won't hurt your chances.

4. Letters of Recommendation: DU requires one letter of recommendation from a school counselor or a teacher who has taught you in an academic course. You have the option to submit additional recommendations, but it's better to prioritize quality over quantity when it comes to recommendation letters.

5. ESSAUSR (Essays, Short Replies, Artifacts): DU requires additional writing pieces in the form of short essays and artifacts to better know you as an applicant. You'll need to submit one DU-specific essay (250 words or less), two short-reply prompts (150 words or less), and one qualitative artifact that showcases your personality or achievements.

6. Application Fee or Fee Waiver: DU requires a $65 application fee, but fee waivers are available if you need financial assistance. You can request a fee waiver through DU's Pioneer Application or the Common Application.
