Hey everyone, I'm a junior and planning to take the SAT soon. How much time should I expect to spend when taking the test? Are there any major differences for the digital SAT in terms of duration?
Hi there! As of Spring 2024, the SAT is fully digital and has a slightly different structure than the previous paper-based format. Here's the breakdown of the test, including the duration:
Reading and Writing: two 32-minute modules, to complete 54 questions. You have about 71 seconds per question.
Math: two 35-minute modules, to complete 44 questions. You have 96 seconds per question, or a little over a minute and a half.
The total duration of the digital SAT is 134 minutes, to complete 98 questions.
Do keep in mind that this does not include the time allocated for breaks, test instructions, and check-in procedures. In total, you can expect to spend around 3 to 4 hours at the testing center. Good luck with your preparation and your upcoming SAT!
