Can I consider reading an extracurricular activity?

Hey guys! I absolutely love reading and spend a good amount of time on it outside of school. Can it be considered an extracurricular activity for college applications, or should I focus on more formal activities? Thank you!

Hello! It's great to hear that you're passionate about reading. While reading may not be considered a traditional extracurricular activity by some, it can definitely still be included on your college applications. Colleges value well-rounded individuals and being an avid reader can show a lot about your intellectual curiosity and dedication to self-improvement.

If you want to bolster the reading aspect of your application, you could try joining (or starting) a book club, participating in reading-related competitions, or even volunteering at your local library. These activities demonstrate your commitment to both reading and community engagement.

Of course, it's still a good idea to be involved in other extracurricular activities as well, but don't underestimate the importance of your love for reading when it comes to showcasing your individuality and interests on your college applications. Good luck!
