Hi guys, quick question - I'm gearing up for the ACT soon and I prefer using mechanical pencils. Does anyone know if they're allowed, or do I need to use regular #2 pencils for the test?
You cannot use mechanical pencils on the ACT. The ACT testing guidelines specifically state that you must use only soft lead No. 2 pencils with erasers. Mechanical pencils are not allowed because the graphite used in them may be too hard for the scanners to read properly, leading to potential issues with scoring.
Make sure to bring sharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers to avoid any issues on test day. It's also a good idea to bring extras in case they break or become dull, so you have plenty on hand for the entire test. Good luck on your ACT!
