What's a good ACT score for a freshman?

Hey all! I'm currently a freshman and have just started thinking about the ACT. I was wondering, what's considered a good score for someone at my grade level?

Hey there! It's great that you're starting to think about the ACT early on in your high school journey. However, it's important to remember that the ACT is typically taken by juniors and seniors. As a freshman, you have plenty of time to prepare for and improve your test-taking skills before you need to take the actual exam.

With that in mind, it's a bit difficult to define what would be considered a "good" ACT score specifically for a freshman since the majority of test-takers are older. A good ACT score for college admissions typically falls within the range of 30-36, with the average being around 21. Scores in the upper 20s and 30s are generally considered competitive for most colleges and universities.

Instead of focusing on achieving a specific score right now, I would recommend utilizing the next couple of years to build a strong foundation in the subjects that the ACT covers, such as math, English, reading, and science. You can also look for opportunities to practice your test-taking skills, such as taking the PreACT or even just using online resources for practice questions.

As you approach your junior year, you can start preparing more seriously for the ACT by doing practice tests and utilizing test prep resources. Keep in mind that everyone improves at their own pace and what might be a "good" score for one person might not be ideal for another. Most importantly, focus on your personal growth and improvement as you continue through high school.

Good luck on your journey, and don't forget to enjoy your high school experience along the way!
