Harvey Mudd average SAT scores?

I'm considering applying to Harvey Mudd College and want to know what the average SAT score is for admitted students. Will my 1420 be competitive enough? Any insights would be appreciated!

The average SAT score for students admitted to Harvey Mudd College falls within the range of 1480-1560. While a 1480 SAT score is below the average, it doesn't mean your chances are negligible. Harvey Mudd, like many other colleges, takes a holistic approach when reviewing applications, so other aspects of your application—like your GPA, extracurricular activities, and essays—will also be considered.

To improve your competitiveness, focus on showcasing your strengths in other parts of your application. For instance, you can emphasize your interest in and aptitude for science and engineering in your essays, as well as demonstrate your achievements and commitment to extracurricular activities related to STEM pursuits. Additionally, strong letters of recommendation from your teachers can also bolster your application.

It may still be worth considering retaking the SAT if you feel you can improve your score, as a higher score could potentially increase your chances of admission. However, it's important not to neglect other aspects of your application in pursuit of a higher test score, as a well-rounded application is key when applying to highly selective colleges such as Harvey Mudd.
