Most D1 schools in a state?

Hey guys, I was wondering which state in the U.S. has the highest number of Division 1 schools? I'm an athlete and I think attending a D1 college is important for me, so I want to explore my options.

California holds the record for having the highest number of Division 1 (D1) schools in the United States. With over 20 D1 institutions, California provides a wide range of opportunities for student-athletes like you to compete at the highest level in college athletics while also pursuing top-notch education. Some notable D1 universities in California include Stanford, UCLA, USC, and UC Berkeley, among others.

It's great to have specific goals in mind when searching for potential colleges, but don't limit your search to just D1 schools. It’s important to find the right fit academically, athletically, and socially, which may include considering Division 2 and Division 3 institutions as well. Keep an open mind and research different schools to ensure you find the college environment that will best support both your athletic and academic aspirations. Good luck!
