Should I double-space my college essay or keep it single?

Hey guys, quick question: should my college essay be double spaced, or is it okay to leave it single spaced? I'm trying to make my essay look as clean and professional as possible. Thanks for the help!

Hi there! It's essential to follow the submission guidelines provided by the college or university to which you are applying. If they specify a preference for double spacing, you should adhere to those guidelines. If no preference is stated, you can choose whichever option you find most visually appealing and in line with professional standards.

For instance, my child encountered a mix of requirements when they were applying to colleges, with some schools having specific guidelines and others granting more freedom. An excellent way to ensure your essay looks clean and professional is to stick with a widely accepted font (like Times New Roman or Arial) and 12-point size. You could also add a 1-inch margin on all sides to create a polished look.

In general, it's always a good idea to double-check and follow the application instructions for each school. I hope this helps, and good luck with your essay!
