What subjects are included in the SAT?

Hey everyone, I'm planning to take the SAT and I was wondering what subjects I'll be tested on. Can anyone give me an overview of the SAT's content?

Sure! As of Spring 2024, the SAT is a fully digital test that consists of two main sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. Here's a brief overview of each section:

1. Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: This section is divided into two modules—each 32 minutes long—consisting of a total of 54 questions. It measures your ability to read and interpret informational texts, literature, and data presentation contextually. You'll be given passages (or pairs of passages) from U.S. and world literature, history/social studies, and science contexts to read, and you'll have to answer a range of multiple-choice questions about each passage. The questions will test your reading comprehension skills, ability to decipher the author's intent, and understanding of textual structure and reasoning, among other things. This section also assesses your command over grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure in the context of reading passages.

2. Math: The Math section is also divided into two modules—each 35 minutes long—with 44 total questions. It covers a range of mathematical topics, including algebra, problem-solving and data analysis, and advanced math concepts. The test assesses your skills in solving linear equations and inequalities, manipulating algebraic expressions, understanding and analyzing proportional relationships, interpreting and analyzing statistical measures, and applying trigonometry, among other topics. Unlike in previous years, you can use a calculator on both math modules.

Keep in mind that the structure of the digital SAT is different from previous versions, so it's essential to familiarize yourself with the new format. To help with your preparation, you might want to take advantage of free official practice resources, such as the Bluebook™ app, which allows you to preview the digital SAT and take a full-length practice test. Best of luck with your test preparation!
