How important are AP scores to Ivy League admissions?

Hey everyone! As a junior, I'm taking quite a few AP classes, and I'm wondering how important the AP scores are for Ivy League admissions. I have 5s on most of my exams, but a couple are 4s - is that competitive enough? Do they consider AP scores like they do SAT/ACT? Thanks for your help!

Hello! It's great to see that you're doing well in your AP classes. From my experience with my child's college application process, I can tell you that AP scores do play a role in admissions, but they're not considered as heavily as SAT/ACT scores, GPA, or extracurriculars.

Scoring a few 4s won't necessarily hurt your chances, especially if you've got several 5s as well. Remember, colleges look at the entire applicant package, and they'll appreciate that you took on challenging AP classes. Demonstrating that you can excel in rigorous coursework is important to Ivy League schools.

Your strong performance in AP classes and the fact that you're attempting many is a good sign. But definitely focus on other aspects of your application as well! Ivy League admissions consider a broad range of factors. Be sure to spend time on your essays, seek strong recommendation letters, and participate in extracurricular activities that showcase your unique qualities. Best of luck in your college journey!
