Is AP Economics considered easy?

Hello there! I'm considering taking AP Economics next year, and I'd like to know if it's generally considered an easy or difficult class. How does it compare to other AP courses in terms of workload? Thanks in advance!

Hi! The difficulty of AP Economics can be subjective and may vary depending on your strengths and the way your school teaches the course. AP Economics is divided into two separate courses: AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics. Some schools offer these as separate courses, while others combine them into one.

In general, students often find AP Economics to be relatively challenging but manageable. Compared to other AP courses like AP Calculus or AP Physics, the workload of AP Economics might be lighter, but that depends on your aptitude for economics concepts and your teacher's approach.

AP Economics requires you to understand complex concepts, graphs, and theories as well as be able to apply them to real-life situations. Many students find it helpful to be fluent in basic algebra and have strong critical thinking skills to excel in this course.

Keep in mind that each individual's experience may differ. If you have a strong interest in economics or have had success in previous social studies courses, you may find AP Economics to be more manageable. It might be helpful to talk to current students at your school to gain a better understanding of the workload and teaching style.

Overall, while AP Economics can be challenging, it can also be rewarding and provide you with useful knowledge for your future academic and professional pursuits. If you're interested in the subject, it's worth considering taking the course(s). Good luck!
