Any Ivy League admissions success with relatively low test scores?

I'm a junior in high school planning to apply to Ivy League schools, but my SAT scores aren't as high as I'd like them to be. Has anyone here gotten into an Ivy League school with relatively low test scores, and if so, what other aspects of your application do you think made you stand out?

It's not unheard of for students to be admitted to Ivy League schools with lower test scores. Ivy League schools practice a holistic review process, meaning they consider your overall application rather than just focusing on your SAT or ACT scores.

To compensate for your lower test scores, you'll want to ensure that other aspects of your application are strong and showcase your unique qualities. Your essays, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation can play a key role in highlighting your strengths.

For example, a student with below-average test scores but exemplary involvement in community service projects and strong leadership skills could still be an appealing candidate to admissions officers. Additionally, a standout personal statement or a powerful narrative presented through supplemental essays can make a significant impact. Remember, Ivy League schools are looking for well-rounded individuals who exhibit potential for success both inside and outside the classroom.

Lastly, if you have ample time before applications are due, consider retaking the SAT and using available resources, such as Khan Academy or CollegeVine, to improve your scores. Best of luck in your college application process, and remember that your test scores are just one aspect of your application.
