Largest universities in Indiana: any advice?

Hey all! I'm a high school junior in the process of building my college list, and I'm looking into the largest universities in Indiana. Any suggestions on specific schools, or information about what it's like attending these universities? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! When it comes to large universities in Indiana, you'll definitely want to consider Indiana University Bloomington (IU) and Purdue University West Lafayette. These are well-known for their size, vibrant campus life, and strong academic programs.

1. Indiana University Bloomington (IU): As the flagship campus of the Indiana University system, IU Bloomington offers a wide range of majors and programs. The university is well-known for its Kelley School of Business, Jacobs School of Music, and School of Public and Environmental Affairs. The campus is beautiful with a mix of traditional and modern architecture, and Bloomington is a college town with lots of restaurants, shops, and outdoor activities. IU has a big Greek life presence and a strong sense of school pride, with plenty of on-campus events, clubs, and sports teams to join.

2. Purdue University West Lafayette: Purdue may have a slight edge in engineering and STEM fields, thanks to its strong College of Engineering. However, the university also excels in other areas like its Krannert School of Management and College of Liberal Arts. Purdue's campus is located in West Lafayette, which offers a comfortable college town atmosphere with lots of outdoors activities in the surrounding area. Students at Purdue can get involved in more than 900 clubs and organizations, as well as a variety of intramural sports and events.

Both universities have a large student body, so you'll find a wide variety of people and opportunities to connect with others. Attending a large university can come with both advantages and challenges. On one hand, you can enjoy a diverse social scene, a wide variety of academic resources, and numerous extracurricular opportunities. On the other hand, some students may find the size overwhelming, with large classes and potentially less personal attention from professors, at least initially.

When making your decision, be sure to factor in your intended major, the campus atmosphere you're seeking, and the extracurricular activities that interest you. It's a great idea to visit the campuses, if possible, or participate in virtual tours and info sessions to get a better understanding of each school's unique offerings.

Good luck with your college search!
