AP Class GPA Calculator?

Hey y'all, I'm trying to calculate my weighted GPA with my AP classes, but I'm not sure how it works. Does anyone have an AP class GPA calculator or a method for determining my weighted GPA? Thanks!

Calculating your weighted GPA with AP classes varies based on your high school's specific weighting system. However, I can provide you with a general method to calculate a weighted GPA that takes AP classes into account. Here's a simple approach:

1. Assign points to your grades: For each class, assign points to the corresponding letter grade you received. Typically, A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, and F = 0. If your school uses a different scale or plus/minus system, adjust the points accordingly.

2. Add weight to your AP classes: For each AP class you've taken, add 1 point to the grade points you assigned in step 1 (e.g. A in an AP class = 5.0, B = 4.0, etc.). Note that some schools may use a different system, like 0.5 points for an AP class, so check with your school counselor for your school's specific weighting.

3. Find the weighted grade points: Multiply the grade points for each class by the number of credits or units each class is worth (usually 1 for semester-long courses). This will give you the weighted grade points for each class.

4. Add up the total weighted grade points: Add the weighted grade points for all your classes together to get your total weighted grade points.

5. Add up the total credits or units: Add up the total number of credits or units for all the classes you took.

6. Calculate your weighted GPA: Divide your total weighted grade points by your total credits or units. The result will be your weighted GPA.

Example:

Let's say you took 5 classes:

- Class 1: A (non-AP): 4.0 x 1 credit = 4.0 weighted grade points

- Class 2: A (AP): (4.0 + 1) x 1 credit = 5.0 weighted grade points

- Class 3: B (AP): (3.0 + 1) x 1 credit = 4.0 weighted grade points

- Class 4: C (non-AP): 2.0 x 1 credit = 2.0 weighted grade points

- Class 5: B (non-AP): 3.0 x 1 credit = 3.0 weighted grade points

Total Weighted Grade Points: 4.0 + 5.0 + 4.0 + 2.0 + 3.0 = 18.0

Total Credits: 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 5

Weighted GPA: 18.0 / 5 = 3.6
