Should I retake the SAT/ACT if my score is below average?

Hi, I'm a high school junior and I recently took the SAT/ACT. My score is below the average for the colleges I'm interested in. Should I retake the test to try to improve my score, or should I focus on other aspects of my application? I'm a little stressed about this decision and would appreciate any input. Thanks!

Hey there! I can understand how stressful this decision can be. If you think you can improve your score with some additional preparation, it might be worth retaking the SAT/ACT. A higher score can certainly make a difference in your application.

That being said, it's also important to focus on other aspects of your application, like your extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation. Colleges look at a variety of factors when making admissions decisions, so a well-rounded application is key.

Ultimately, it's a personal decision, and you should weigh the pros and cons based on your goals and circumstances. Remember that many colleges have adopted test-optional policies, so keep that in mind as well. Good luck with your college journey!
