Do colleges value AP classes or dual enrollment classes more?

Hi everyone! I'm a high school junior, and I have the option to take AP classes or dual enrollment classes next year. I'm not sure which one would be more beneficial for college admissions. Do colleges have a preference for either AP or dual enrollment? Thanks for your help!

Hi there! It's great that you're considering your options for next year. The answer to your question can vary depending on the college you're applying to. Some colleges might prefer AP classes, while others might value dual enrollment more.

AP classes are standardized, so colleges have a better idea of the curriculum and level of rigor. On the other hand, dual enrollment courses can give you a taste of college-level work and show that you can handle it. Plus, you might earn college credits for both, depending on your exam scores and the schools you apply to.

My child faced a similar decision, and they ended up choosing a mix of both AP and dual enrollment classes. This allowed them to demonstrate their ability to handle challenging coursework while also getting a feel for the college environment.

Ultimately, it's essential to choose the option that fits your learning style and interests best. Focus on doing well in whichever classes you decide to take, and that will reflect positively on your college applications. Good luck!
