How many clubs should I join freshman year?

As a high school freshman, I'm a little bit overwhelmed with all the available clubs and activities at my school. How many clubs should I join my freshman year to demonstrate involvement and leadership in the long run for college applications?

It's great that you're thinking ahead and planning for your high school experience with college applications in mind! There's no set number of clubs you should join, as it really depends on your personal interests, time management, and ability to balance your academic and extracurricular commitments.

To start off, consider joining 2-3 clubs in your freshman year to explore your interests. You may find that you really enjoy one club, which you can then dedicate more time and effort to, possibly taking on leadership roles in the future. It's important to remember that colleges value quality over quantity, so they'd rather see deep involvement and commitment in a few clubs instead of superficial participation in many.

As you progress in high school, you may find other clubs or activities that interest you, and that's okay! Just remember to keep a healthy balance and prioritize your academic performance.
