Looking for Interior Design Schools in California

Hey, I'm pretty set on pursuing a career in interior design, and I'd love to study in sunny California lol. Could anyone recommend schools with solid programs?

Absolutely! California is a great choice for interior design programs, offering a variety of options that can cater to your different needs and interests.

1. California State University, Long Beach: This university's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design program is particularly note-worthy. It's a professional-degree program accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accrediation. The program is well-rounded, focusing on both aesthetics and technical skills.

2. California College of the Arts: Located in San Francisco, this college offers a program that blends design theory with practical knowledge and includes a hands-on, studio-heavy approach. Sustainability and social impact are also significant elements of their program.

3. Design Institute of San Diego: This Institute is exclusively focused on interior design education, offering a BFA in interior design. Their courses are taught by practicing professionals. One of the unique features is that they offer quite a few workshops and events that help students network and understand the professional design world.

4. Otis College of Art and Design: Their BFA in Architecture/Landscape/Interiors program offers an integrated curriculum where students learn to shape, and reshape our built environment via this interdisciplinary program. One great advantage is their 'crit' culture which immensely helps students to improve their design and communication skills.

Certainly, what makes a program "solid" can depend on your specific interests and what you're hoping to get out of your education, such as hands-on experience, theoretical knowledge, or focus on sustainability or technology, etc. So, it's always a great idea to do some additional research to ensure the programs align with your personal interests and career goals in interior design.

Additionally, remember to take college self-guided tour virtually or physical if possible, and reaching out to current students or alumni can provide a more personal perspective on the program. All the best with your college search and future studies in interior design!
