UMiami In-State Tuition - Any Info?

Hi all, I'm a prospective student from Florida considering UMiami. I'm wondering about in-state tuition there, is it significantly cheaper than out-of-state? How does it compare to other Florida universities? Any advice is appreciated!

The University of Miami, often referred to as UMiami or simply UM, is a private institution, meaning that it does not differentiate tuition costs based on in-state or out-of-state residency status. For the 2024-2025 academic year, tuition at UM is approximately $60,720.

When comparing this to public universities in Florida that do offer in-state and out-of-state tuition differences, you'd find that tuition at UM is typically higher. For instance, tuition at the University of Florida, is about $6,380 per academic year for in-state students and around $28,658 for out-of-state students--which is still lower than what you would pay at UM.

That being said, irrespective of whether you're an in-state or out-of-state student, it's important to take into consideration different factors when making a decision: consider each school’s financial aid opportunities, as some private colleges often offer substantial financial aid packages that can greatly reduce the cost of attendance. UM does offer need-based financial aid and a variety of merit-based scholarships, which could potentially bridge the gap in cost.

Additionally, you'll want to also take into account the academic programs you're interested in, campus life, student support services, the local community, and other aspects that are important to you to make the best decision.
