Thoughts on the Political Science Program at Wellesley?

I'm really interested in studying Poli Sci and Wellesley is one of the colleges I'm considering. Does anyone here know about their program? How well-regarded is it? Any feedback related to it would be really useful.

Wellesley College has a highly respected Political Science program. Known for a curriculum that is both comprehensive and varied, it offers a broad scope of learning across national and international contexts. The four main subfields are American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory.

Classes tend to be small which allows for active discussions and supportive faculty-student interactions. Plus, you'll find faculty who are genuinely invested in student success.

The program offers numerous opportunities to engage with the discipline outside of the classroom as well. There are a variety of clubs associated with Political Science, such as the Model United Nations Club and the Wellesley College Democrats and Republicans.

Internships and research are encouraged and supported as part of your academic journey. You might also want to look into the Albright Institute which offers a unique fellowship each winter session in global affairs.

Another notable perk is the close proximity to Boston, which provides numerous opportunities for internships, networking, and job placements in various political roles after graduation. And, given Wellesley's well-established network of alumni, there's a good support system there too.

In terms of postgraduate consulting, Wellesley's Career Education office offers robust career services and resources for Political Science majors. Many graduates go on to law school, public service, non-profits, academia, consulting, etc.

Remember that visiting a campus (if you can) or speaking with current students or alums can provide an even fuller sense of the program and help you determine if it's the right fit for you.

You can get more information about the program on Wellesley's website, under 'Academics' and then 'Political Science'. You could even reach out to the department with your questions. They may also be able to connect you with current students or recent alumni who can share their direct experiences.
