In search of best D2 football schools in Texas—suggestions?

Hey folks! I'm seriously pursuing football in college and I'm particularly interested in some D2 football schools in Texas. Can someone point me towards some of the best ones? Also, any tips on making myself appealing to these schools would be really helpful. Thanks!

Hello! In Texas, there are several highly regarded D2 schools in terms of football. Some of the more notable programs include Angelo State University, Tarleton State University, and West Texas A&M University:

1. West Texas A&M University: The football program is known for its tradition and competitiveness. The university has sent over 30 players to the NFL over the years.

2. Angelo State University: Their football program competes in the Lone Star Conference and has a reputation of building strong athletes, with alumni playing in professional leagues.

3. Tarleton State University: While this was a long-time power in D2, they have recently completed a transition to Division I FCS, so while they might not be officially D2 anymore, they still could be a good fit depending on your aspirations.

On making yourself more appealing to high-level D2 programs:

1. Performance: Naturally, standout performances in high school games are key. Ensure that your on-field performance is at its best.

2. Exposure: Send highlight reels to coaches, attend summer football camps of these colleges, and consider visiting colleges to meet with coaches personally.

3. Grades: As a student-athlete, your academic performance is still vital. These schools would be looking for student-athletes who can balance their academics with their athletics.

4. Individual Meetings and Campus Visits: If possible, try to meet with a coach in person. This can show your dedication and drive and also lets you demonstrate your fit with the team culture beyond your skill on the football field.

Remember, getting a coach's attention often comes down to performing well in high school games and maintaining good grades, but character and leadership are also important factors that could set you apart. Best of luck with your college search!
