How many AP classes should I take in junior year?

Hey everyone! I'm currently a sophomore thinking about my schedule for next year. How many AP classes should I aim for during my junior year? I want a good balance between challenging myself and not getting overwhelmed.

Hello! It's fantastic that you're looking to challenge yourself while also being mindful of not overloading your schedule—that's a sensible approach for sure. Usually, the number of AP classes a student should take depends greatly on their individual academic strength, interests, and extracurricular commitments.

As a junior, if you've handled honors classes well, aiming for 2-4 AP classes might be a good balance. It allows you to experience rigorous coursework but still have time to engage in other activities you enjoy. Remember to choose AP classes in subjects you're passionate about, as this will make the workload more manageable and interesting. For example, if you love science, take AP Biology or Chemistry, but if history is your jam, consider AP U.S. History.

Always keep in mind your overall mental health and well-being when making your decision!
