Seeking DBQ Rubric for AP World History.

Hi there, does anyone have a clear DBQ rubric for AP World History they could share? I want to make sure I understand all the points I need to hit when writing these essays.

Absolutely, happy to share the breakdown of the Document-Based Question (DBQ) rubric for AP World History. The DBQ is scored out of 7 points and assesses your ability to analyze historical documents and relate those interpretations to your knowledge of world history. Here's an outline of the rubric:

1. Thesis/Claim (0–1 pt): You earn one point for presenting a clear thesis that makes a historically valid claim about the prompt.

2. Contextualization (0–1 pt): You earn one point for situating the argument within broader historical events, developments, or processes relevant to the prompt.

3. Evidence from Documents (0–3 pts):

- Use of the Content of at least three documents (0–2 pts): You earn one point for using the content of at least three documents to support an argument based on the prompt. You can earn an additional point for using the content of six or more documents.

- Support an Argument using at least one additional piece of specific historical evidence (0–1 pt): You earn one point for providing relevant additional evidence to support your argument, beyond the ones provided in the documents.

4. Analysis and Reasoning (0–2 pts):

- Sourcing/Contextualizing of at least three documents (0–1 pt): You earn one point for explaining how at least three of the documents' authors’ points of view, purposes, historical situations, and/or audiences aid in understanding the argument.

- Explaining and Supporting an Argument (0–1 pt): You earn one point for using reasoning to clarify the correlation between the argument and evidence, thus reinforcing your thesis or argument.

Remember that each point requires unique information, so repeating content will not earn extra credit. Also, your essay will be assessed holistically. So even if you forget one part, you could still earn points in other areas.

Hope this helps! You may want to check with a trusted teacher or study resource to ensure you're interpreting these correctly, as nuances can come up. You should also try to get some practice DBQs in before the exam, because practice makes perfect!
