ACT Cost - Is Fee Waiver Possible?

Hello everyone, I'm planning to take the ACT but I'm a bit concerned about the price. Is there any sort of fee waiver or discount available for low-income students? Any information would be helpful, thanks!

Absolutely! The ACT does offer fee waivers to eligible students to help cover the cost of the test. This is designed specifically for high school juniors and seniors in the United States who can't afford the testing fees.

Here's a bit more detail: You can get a maximum of two ACT Fee Waivers during your high school career. The waivers cover the cost of the exam (either the no writing option or the writing test option), and they also include other beneficial extras such as free score reports sent to up to six colleges.

However, there are certain eligibility criteria you need to meet to receive a fee waiver, such as being enrolled in the Federal Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Program or living in foster care, among other conditions.

To get the fee waiver, you’ll need to speak to your high school counselor or guidance advisor – they are the ones who distribute these waivers. Your school will have a set number of fee waivers to give out on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, it's beneficial to start the process early and check in with your counselor as soon as possible to make sure you get one.

Remember that fee waivers cannot be used for standby registration, only for regular or late registration. It's essential to plan and register ahead of time and avoid procrastination. Good luck with your test-prep!
