When to start applying for jobs senior year?

Hi everyone, I'm going to be a senior next year and I'm trying to plan ahead. At what point in senior year should I start applying for part-time jobs or internships? I want to make sure I have a good balance between my academics and job searching. Any advice would be great!

Hey there! It's wonderful you're thinking ahead about balancing academics with job searching. From my experience with my own college-bound kiddo, beginning the job search early in your senior year can be beneficial. Start looking into opportunities during the fall so that you can apply over winter break when you might have more free time. This also means you can take your time with applications without feeling rushed. However, it's equally important to keep your grades up, especially if colleges you're applying to will see your first semester grades. Look for positions with flexible hours that can accommodate your school schedule. And don’t forget to use your school’s career services—they can be a tremendous help with finding part-time jobs or internships tailored to students. Good luck, and remember to enjoy your last year of high school as well!
