Length of the AP Computer Science Principles Exam

AP CSP peeps, I need some help! Starting to freak out a little — just how lengthy is this AP Computer Science Principles exam? Can't really find a definite answer online. If anyone also has suggestions on pacing, I'd be forever indebted.

Sure, I'd be happy to help! Don't worry too much, proper preparation is key.

The AP Computer Science Principles exam consists of two parts: the Create Performance Task and the End-of-Course AP Exam.

The Create Performance Task involves designing and implementing a computer program of your choosing. You have essentially 10 hours to complete this task (9 hours in class and an hour to answer questions about their project) but it is spread over a course of several weeks. Make sure to pace yourself during this task and use your allocated time wisely. Don't leave it all until the last moment!

The End-of-Course AP Exam is 2 hours long and consists of 70 multiple-choice questions. This section is divided into two categories: Single Select and Multiple Select. You'll have approximately 1.7 minutes per question. Quick tip: Keep an eye on the clock and if a question is not clear or feels too complex, it's alright to skip it and return to it later if time allows.

So in total, you're looking at approximately 14 hours of actual exam time, but it's distributed over many weeks.

Remember, the key here is to practice, understand the core concepts well, pace yourself, and stay calm. Good luck on your exam!
