What SAT Score is needed for MIT?

Hi guys. I'm really trying to gauge what SAT score I need for a solid shot at MIT. Does anyone have any insights into this? And maybe some test prep recommendations? Cheers.

MIT is known to have a highly competitive admissions process. While they do not explicitly list an SAT score requirement, they do provide a profile of admitted students on their website. Typically, accepted students have SAT scores in the 95th percentile or above, meaning the majority will have scores over 1500.

However, remember that while test scores are an important part of your application, they aren't the whole picture. MIT, like many top schools, conducts a holistic review. Your grades, curriculum rigor, extracurriculars, letters of recommendation, and essays all play significant roles in the decision-making process as well. It's about showing competency in your chosen area.

As for test prep, there are many resources available. The College Board, which administers the SAT, provides free test prep materials through Khan Academy. This is a great starting point, as these materials are directly linked to the nature and content of the test itself. Additionally, various SAT prep books by reputable publishers are also quite helpful. And remember, practice is key. Taking timed practice tests under conditions that mimic the actual test environment can be highly beneficial.

Remember to give the other parts of your application adequate attention, as the SAT is just one aspect the admissions officers at MIT will be looking at. Good luck with your preparations!
