Is getting into St. Johns University tough?

Hey guys, stressed out junior here. I'm considering applying to St. Johns University but I'm kinda worried about the acceptance rate. What kind of profile do successful applicants usually have? GPA, test scores, extracurriculars... I want to know it all. Any help would be really helpful!

First off, it's great to be proactive about your apps! Now, let's talk about St. John's University. As of recent years, the acceptance rate for St. John's University is around 68%, therefore I'd term it as moderately selective.

When it comes to GPA, their admitted students usually have high school GPAs around 3.5. But remember, having a GPA above this range can bolster your chances of admission, especially if your school uses a weighted GPA scale. However, St John's looks at more than just grades. They also consider the rigor of your high school classes.

As for standardized test scores, St. John's became test-optional from Fall 2020 so SAT and ACT scores are not a mandatory requirement. If you choose to submit test scores, a combined SAT score of around 1060 to 1250 (Math + EBRW) or an ACT composite score of 22 to 29 is typically seen in successful applicants.

Now for the extracurriculars. Remember, quality is more important than quantity when it comes to your activity list. You don't need to join every club or activity at your high school. Showcasing leadership and dedication in a few select activities related to your intended major or field of interest can be more impactful.

Finally, an excellent application essay can be a great way to stand out. Make sure it is well-written, unique, and personal, and remember to avoid cliche topics.

Of course, admissions is not an exact science, and the admissions committee will evaluate each application holistically. Hopefully, this should give you a general sense of the type of profile that can be competitive at St. John's University. Good luck on your applications!
