University of Missouri Columbia Acceptance Rate Realities?

So I'm really interested in the University of Missouri Columbia. Their programs are definitely top tier and I'm thinking of applying. Just wondering about their acceptance rates though. How hard is it to get in, realistically? Should I be worried? Thanks so much!

Sure thing! The University of Missouri Columbia, also known as Mizzou, is a reputable institution, offering a wide range of programs.

As of recent data, Mizzou has an acceptance rate of around 78%. This means that nearly 78 out of every 100 students who apply are accepted, which might sound high but remember, it does not guarantee admission. Every applicant's profile and achievements are different and evaluated individually.

Admission for you will largely depend on your academic performance, test scores if you choose to submit them, your essays, and extracurricular achievements. Looking at previous applicants, the middle 50% of admitted students had a high school GPA between 3.46 and 3.91, and ACT scores between 22 and 29. SAT scores, for students who submitted them, tended to fall between 1130 and 1310.

Remember that while these statistics can give you an idea of the average admitted student, they don't dictate an absolute minimum threshold that you must meet. Each application is evaluated holistically, meaning your academic records, essays, letters of recommendations, and extracurricular involvement are all important.

If your grades and test scores are within or above these ranges, you have a great chance of being admitted, especially if you also have strong extracurriculars and essays. Even if your scores are a bit below, it's still worth applying! Universities consider other factors like extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and work/volunteering experiences as well. It's all about showcasing your potential as a student.

We hope this helps allay some of your concerns. The application process can feel intimidating, but the statistics seem promising. Good luck with your application!
