Where can I find accurate engineering undergraduate rankings for colleges?

So, I'm looking at colleges and I'm planning to major in engineering, but I have no idea where to start. Does anyone know a reliable source I can look at for engineering undergraduate rankings? Any other tips for finding a great engineering school?

Sure, for engineering program rankings, you may check out "U.S. News & World Report" which has an annual ranking of undergraduate engineering programs. They separate their rankings into two lists: one that considers programs at schools that offer a doctoral degree in engineering, and another for schools where the highest engineering degree offered is a bachelor's or a master's. Keep in mind that although rankings play a role, they shouldn't be the only thing you consider during your college search process.

Apart from just looking at rankings, there are other aspects you might want to consider when exploring engineering programs at different schools:

- Curriculum: Some schools might offer a more theory-based, research-intensive program, while others might have more experiential, hands-on learning opportunities.

- Specializations: If you already have a specific discipline of engineering in mind (like electrical, mechanical, civil), you'll want to look out for schools with strong programs in that particular field.

- Internship and Co-op Programs: Such as Purdue's Co-Op program or Northeastern's Co-Op program which offer students the opportunity to gain real-world experience at engineering companies while still in school.

- Faculty: What are the qualifications of the faculty, and how accessible are they to students. Do they have industry experience and connections? Are there opportunities for undergraduate research?

- Facilities and Resources: Look into whether the departments have enough labs, software, hardware, and other necessary resources available for students.

- Job Placement and Alumni Network: If the school can provide data on the post-graduation success of its students, take a look at it. Consider spending some time researching what companies recruit on campus.

- Accreditation: Make sure that the engineering program is accredited by ABET. This accreditation is an assurance that the degree meets the quality standards of the profession.

Remember: fit is as important as prestige. Choose engineering schools that align with your career goals, learning style, and values. Research and apply to a balanced list of reach, target, and likely schools. Best of luck with your college search!
