Hi folks! My dream school is Cornell. Could anyone tell me what sort of SAT scores they usually require for admission? I want to make sure I have a chance. Thanks!
Cornell University has a highly competitive admissions process, and the SAT scores of enrolled students are usually pretty high. For the 2024-2025 application cycle, Cornell is returning to requiring standardized tests. This means all applicants will need to submit an SAT or ACT score.
While Cornell doesn't have a "minimum" SAT score for admission, it's helpful to aim for a score within the middle 50% range of accepted students for the best chance of getting in. In the past, the middle 50% SAT scores of admitted students have been in the range of approximately 1450-1560 out of 1600.
Keep in mind that these scores are only one part of your application. Your grades, rigor of your high school curriculum, extracurricular activities, and personal essays are all equally important in Cornell's admissions decisions. A high SAT score doesn't guarantee admission, just like a lower SAT score doesn't make admission impossible if the rest of your application is strong.
It might also be a good idea to take a few SAT practice tests or use the Bluebook™ app to get a sense of where you stand. It's important to prepare well in advance to improve your chances of achieving a high score. Good luck with your preparation!
